The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has officially initiated the application for the elite student admission channel for the academic year 2021/2022. According to the established guidelines, this opportunity is open to graduates of the preparatory school from the academic years 2021/2020 and 2022/2021, who have achieved exceptional averages of 90% and above in the biological, applied, and literary branches. Interested students are encouraged to apply to the faculties of administration and economics, specifically the departments of Business Administration, Statistics and Public Administration, Industrial Management, Accounting, Economics, Finance, and Banking Sciences, as well as the faculties of law and basic education at the University of Anbar. The Phenomenon of Harassment between Causes and Repercussions

 

 

The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Anbar held an educational symposium entitled (The Phenomenon of Harassment between Causes and Repercussions)

The symposium held at the University of Anbar was aimed at highlighting the phenomenon of non-cultural harassment and its risks to society while addressing the administrative and legal procedures to be followed when incidents of harassment occur. The event consisted of two main sections, Psychological and Behavioral Aspects of Harassment, and discussed the motives behind this shameful act of individuals of both sexes. The various stages at which harassers were going through to justify their actions and he emphasized that understanding those stages could help prevent such acts. The representative of the Directorate of Community Police, discussed laws in Iraq, specifically laws under the jurisdiction of the University of Anbar, criminalizing harassment. He stressed the need to punish, including imprisonment and fines, on the basis of the type of harassment and the extent of the damage caused. In addition, she participated in advice published by the Ministry of Interior on personal protection measures to avoid harassment. The symposium concluded with several recommendations, including the organization of similar seminars for different groups, such as students, and the establishment of social researchers within the University of Anbar and its institutions.

The University of Anbar, specifically the College of Education for Human Sciences, recently organized a workshop centered on addressing the various forms of harassment present within the university community and their detrimental effects on social relationships among students. The primary aim of this workshop was to educate students about the fundamental nature of social connections and their role in fulfilling essential psychological needs, such as security, love, and a sense of belonging. The workshop also emphasized the key characteristics of genuine friendships, including their value, potential for growth, and shared achievements. Furthermore, it underscored the significance of adhering to certain values and standards in fostering healthy social interactions. Deviating from these principles can lead to a distortion of the true meaning of fellowship and friendship within the University of Anbar campus.

The workshop, held at the University of Anbar, was aimed at educating students about the nature of social relations and their role in meeting important psychological needs. She stressed the importance of security, love, and belonging in promoting pleasure and happiness in social interactions.

During the workshop, the importance of values and standards in promoting healthy social relationships was highlighted; emphasizing that departing from these principles can distort the meaning of on-campus fellowship and friendship. The workshop also addressed the characteristics of friendship, including value, hope, and achievement.

 

One of the main topics discussed during the workshop was the issue of harassment, which can disrupt and disturb campus social relations. The lecture highlighted the character of harassers, who are often described as having anti-social psychopathic traits, which may be influenced by negative family upbringing or authoritarian figures. The workshop emphasized the psychological repercussions faced by victims of harassment and explored various methods of psychotherapy, including those aimed at addressing post-traumatic stress disorders resulting from these experiences. Furthermore, the workshop highlighted the views of Islamic law, other divine religions, and Iraqi law regarding harassment, as well as the legal penalties associated with such conduct. It also covers important laws and procedures that help to address the problem of cyber harassment.

 

As a recommendation, the workshop emphasized the need for cooperation between the University, the media, jurists, and educational institutions to raise awareness and educate all segments of society about the importance of reporting any attempts of blackmail or harassment. It should be noted that this workshop was part of this workshop.

The University of Anbar has a committee for human rights and a Student Discipline Office, as is common in many educational institutions. The Student Discipline Office operates in accordance with the instructions provided by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Students at the University of Anbar are expected to adhere to specific guidelines outlined in these instructions. These guidelines include:

 

1-Compliance with all laws, regulations, by laws, instructions, and orders issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as well as those set forth by the university and its affiliated institutions.

2-Respecting Religious beliefs, national unity, and national sentiments by refraining from intentionally inciting sectarian, ethnic, or religious conflicts through words or actions.

3-Avoiding Actions or statements that could harm the reputation of the ministry or the University of Anbar, both within and outside the university campus.

4-Demonstrating behavior that aligns with university norms, which includes maintaining high levels of discipline, showing respect towards the administration, faculty, and staff, fostering positive relationships with fellow students, and promoting cooperation among peers.

These guidelines are put in place to ensure that students at the University of Anbar maintain ethical standards, promote a positive learning environment, and contribute to the overall well-being of the university community.

In the midst of a joyous ceremony attended by official, cultural, and artistic figures, as well as the founder of the Cultural Center from the 1970s, various facilities at the Cultural Center of University of Anbar. These facilities include a carpentry workshop, a sewing workshop, a printing and reproduction workshop, a direct sales exhibition, a handicrafts display, and artwork created by persons with disabilities. The hall complex has been renovated to give it a new and modern look. And the reconstruction of the hall complex, which now consists of a large conference hall and a multipurpose hall offering various services, a lecture hall, a space for experimental theatrical performances, and an exhibition of fine arts exhibitions.

 

Establishment of a unit for people with special needs at the University of Anbar

The University of Anbar recently announced the establishment of a specialized unit dedicated to serving individuals with special needs. The Unit has been developed and will be under the Office of the Assistant Rector for Management.

In this regard, the Unit responsible for meeting the needs of this important sector of the university community is in charge of the Special Needs Unit. The Unit would do its utmost to represent their voices and interests to the relevant authorities within and outside the University.

 

(Social Skills Training for People with Special Needs)

The University of Anbar organized a workshop focused on providing social skills training to individuals with special needs. The workshop brought together researchers and specialists who participated in various discussions and activities. The workshop discussed the importance of social skills. He discussed linguistic and terminological definitions of social skills and stressed the importance of effective interaction with individuals with special needs. The lecture covered topics such as the creation of smiles and care for people with hearing, visual and physical disabilities, as well as mental, educational, brain, and neurological disabilities. The speech also touched on speech disabilities, developmental delays, behavioral and cognitive components, general and specific dimensions of disabilities, independence training, daily life skills, self-care, safety, and vocational rehabilitation. In addition, the lecture provided insights into the scientific and daily life skills of children with Down's syndrome.

 

The workshop also addressed (WHO) recommendations concerning individuals with special needs. Explore ways to interact effectively and train individuals on social skills based on previous scientific theories and studies found in relevant scientific papers and journals. These studies emphasized the importance of integrating individuals with special needs into society, ensuring that they feel cared for rather than isolated. The workshop aims to learn from individuals with special needs, observe their daily lives and promote their autonomy and self-sufficiency, with a particular focus on individuals with Down's syndrome.

Throughout the workshop, there was a strong focus on helping individuals with special needs to move smoothly in their daily lives by helping them acquire and master the necessary skills. It aims to identify and address their psychological needs using scientific and psychological methods. Furthermore, the workshop aims to promote independence, discourage dependence on others and enable individuals with special needs to become productive members of society. This has been achieved by providing vocational guidance tailored to the severity, degree, and nature of their disabilities while promoting a positive mindset.

 

Providing sterilizers for people with special needs

 

The College of Pharmacy of the University of Anbar, in collaboration with the Anbar Pharmacists' Union, presented an initiative to visit an association for persons with disabilities and persons with special needs. The purpose of the visit was to provide assistance in the form of a sterile hand gel. This initiative was part of their commitment to serve the community and reflected the dedication of the university and the union to supporting and nurturing this special segment of citizens during the ongoing crisis in the country. The Assembly's official expressed their appreciation to the University of Anbar, noting that they were the only ones to visit the facility and meet its needs during the crisis. Their initiative was highly appreciated and recognized as a significant contribution to the well-being of persons with disabilities and special needs.
